National News Service (Kolkata – India), 28th January, 2005: The OUTLOOK magazine dated the 31st January 2005 has a quotation from retired Justice U. C. Banerjee stating “I’m not a politician; I don't know when the polls are due. I'm not keen on knowing either.” It can then be presumed that this person, for want of a better word, can look at a train compartment and blithely claim that there was no sabotage and that the fire was accidental.
A person who, from his statement, can be easily understood that he does not leave his house, is not in contact with the electronic media and does not read newspapers, because the state elections are making headlines for the last one month, and any person who claims no knowledge must be totally isolated, and he has used the time to become an armchair forensic expert.
The first thing that all Indians should do is look at themselves in the mirror each morning and ask themselves, are we all brainless idiots, because it is only a nation of brainless idiots who can put up with the nonsense that is thrown at them day in and day out.
The Justice Nanavati Commission probing the Godhra incident in the last two years has not submitted its report. They are taking depositions from the eye witnesses and experts and they have not been able to come to any conclusion. Laloo Yadav a moron of George Bush stature appoints Justice U. C. Banerjee who with one cursory look into the compartment of the train that was set alight, was able to draw his conclusion and submit a preliminary report that the fire was accidental.
The Indian public has the right to know why Justice U. C. Banerjee was chosen. What are the criteria for choosing the Judge and what was the expenditure incurred, and above all why was a second Judge appointed when the Justice Nanavati commission had not yet submitted their report.
Even more curious for a hermit is why, instead of submitting his interim report to the Government, as is the tradition, he called a press conference and submitted the findings to the press. The Hermit having been a High Court Judge knows that Indians are gullible brainless idiots.
When children lie or misbehave they are chastised, but what do you do when grown ups behave in the same way. Well you appoint them as Secretary of State as is the case with Colin Powell, or make them Prime Ministers, like Tony (Poodle) Blair or you appoint them to head commissions, or make them Railway Ministers.
The appointment of Judges by political masters to give reports that suit them is also probably a legacy of the British Raj. The Hutton report into the suicide of the British Irak Arms expert is a perfect example of morons who are appointed to head commissions to suit their political masters. Unfortunately when we became independent we expected we could do better, but instead we continue to follow the legacy of our British masters, and leaves us thinking of the quality of the Judges that are appointed to sit in the highest courts.
Again in a Country where truth is not criteria in contempt cases anything is possible.
This Country has evolved an excellent self preservation scheme, Politicians are judged by fellow politicians, police by fellow policemen and judges by other judges and bureaucrats by bureaucrats, what could be more honky dory and to go with this a population of spineless people.
The Hindus, and their various off shoots have been ruled by the Muslims and British for the greater part of seven hundred years, as such they are used to being second class citizens in their own country, and have probably lost the last vestiges of self respect.
The antics of Jayalalitha in Tamil Nadu against the Kanchi Mutt are the prime example of this phenomenon. Here is a Mutt several thousand years’ old being harassed by a person of undetermined origin who has umpteen corruption allegations against her, some of them still pending in court, harassing a Seer probably with the intention of grabbing the riches of the Mutt. The Supreme Court after going through all the case documents found it a case fit for granting bail, the cohorts of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister keep on piling case after case as if he was a petty criminal. The Media who pursue their own agenda have virtually condemned the Seer and his junior.
Pursuing the injustice by the media would probably not bring in the same advertisement revenue as highlighting sex stories such as the MMS and Bollywood escapades, and the numbed public silent spectators.
When the tsunami hit the province of Aceh in Indonesia, many Muslim clerics propounded the idea that it was because of the wayward ways of the Muslims there. Could not the same inference be made why the Tsunami with all its vengeance hit the coastline of Tamil Nadu for the wayward ways of the Chief Minister and the silence of the Hindus of Tamil Nadu. The punishment for the rest of the Hindus in India, who are silent spectators to the excesses in Tamil Nadu, are the happenings in Maharashtra where more than three hundred pilgrims were killed in a stampede. Who knows?
Another affliction which has hit this country is the incessant big talk by our Government. The President of India in his Republic Day speech said that post Tsunami we should develop the coastal areas with hospitals, fishing boat and net repair centers, schools etc. It took nearly 60 years of Independence and eight or nine Presidents to realize the requirements. Instead of talk just get the aid to the genuine victims so that they start their lives again, and to the orphaned children a chance to get education/training so that they can live and get back to a semblance of normality.
Giving loans soft or hard to victims is not a solution, they were disaffected in the beginning, and they are even worse off now. The people who have so generously contributed to the various funds set up and principally to the Prime Minsters relief fund are not charging interest. Even if the exchequer has to pay let it be grants so that they can start again from the point they were hit by this tragedy.
We again hear from our omnipotent ministers that we will set up our own Tsunami warning system and not co-operate with the United Nations in their system. This endeavor will undoubtedly include foreign visits, seminars with good food and high thoughts, voluminous and shining reports, and patiently wait for the next Tsunami to hit so that we can finalize the plans.
