National News Service, Kolkata, 27 April 2006: The third phase of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election was held today the 27th April 2006. The main proponents of the CPI(M) vote manipulation such as Rabin Deb, Subhas Chakraborty, Rajdeo Goala, Kanti Ganguly, Manab Mukherjee etc. were in the fray today.

The main feature of this year was that the Election Commission (EC) has made the State Police machinery redundant and established that they were biased and could not be relied upon. The people standing in the queue for long periods in the blistering sun were overjoyed, that after many years, they were able to cast their votes without fear.

What initially appeared to be a slap in the face of the Left Front is turning out to be a knock out punch. The cockiness and do not care attitude of the CPI (M) leaders is fading away, and one sees a hint of fear in their eyes.

At about 2:30 PM the voter turnout was 25%. There were very few incidents and whenever one took place the Central Forces reacted immediately.
