[India News]: Jamshedpur, Jan 5 : Ananda Marga Pracaraka Sangha, an organisation of the Ananda Margis, is ready to adopt more than 1000 destitute children orphaned or displaced by the killer tsunami in coastal south India.
The Sangha will take care of the children till they attain adulthood and bear the expenses for their lodging, food, health and education, its office bearers said today.
''We are in the process of negotiating with the Tamil Nadu government in this regard,'' Acharya Divyachitananda Avadhut and Acharya Sugatananda Avadhuta, secretary and additional secretary (public relation) of the Sangha told newsmen here.
It would give priority to children who have lost both their parents. ''However, we are also prepared to adopt children who have lost either of their parents as well as those whose parents are alive but have lost everything,'' they said.
The Sangha had adopted over 2000 children orphaned in the Orissa super-cyclone and Gujarat earthquake.
The Sangha had also discussed with the government of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to take up rehabilitation of affected persons there and was prepared to set up dwelling units, construction of school buildings and others, they said. PTI
