Dhaka, Feb 8, 2005 (National News Service) – Main opposition Awami League (AL) will hold a grand rally in Dhaka on February 19 after enforcing a 36-hour countrywide hartal on February 14-15 to protest the killing of former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria and repression on its activists, and demanding resignation of the alliance government.

AL President and Leader of the Opposition Sheikh Hasina announced the fresh programmes at a press conference after a four-hour meeting with her party's central working committee Tuesday.

Other programmes include exchange of views with professional bodies on February 11, 2005, and demonstration at upazilas across the country and thanas in the capital on February 13, 2005.

Besides, the main opposition party will observe Amar Ekushey on February 21 with due respect and arrange a discussion meeting the following day on the occasion of the International Mother Language Day. (End/si)
