DHAKA-SILIGURI BUS SERVICE

Dhaka, Saturday, February 12 (NNS): A bus service between Dhaka and Shiliguri was launched Friday as two private transport companies of Bangladesh and India had been ferrying passengers from the respective destinations through Burimari border.

The service jointly organised by the S R Travels of India and Shyamalee Paribahan Sangstha of Bangladesh, which would take about 17 hours for a single trip. The passengers bus from Dhaka would start its journey from Kamalapur at 8 PM and reach Burimari border next day morning.

The fare was fixed at TK 650 per person covering tiffin and dinner, concerned sources said, adding that the first bus from Dhaka reached Shiliguri Friday with 22 passengers.

From Dhaka, Shyamalee Paribahan Sangstha would carry passengers up to Burimari in Lalmonirhat where after custom and immigration check would board S R Travel bus at Chengrabandha in Coochbehar district for their onward journey to Shiliguri, a trade town in West Bengal.

Earlier, Dhaka-Kolkata and Agartola-Dhaka-Kolkata bus services were opened for strengthening bilateral relational between the two close door neighbiouring countries. (End/si)
