JHARKAND IGNITE NDA ANGER

Dilip Chatterjee from Kolkata, (National News Service) 3/3/03: The Governor of Jharkand has defied all Parliamentary and Constitutional norms by inviting JMM supremo Sibu Soren to form the Government in Jharkand.

The new criteria used by the Governor being not who can provide a stable Government, but who can give a better Government. This opens a Pandora's box, which will be difficult to control in the future.

Syed Sibti Razi was a former minister in P. V. Narishima Rao, well known for his anti Sangh Parivar attitude, bordering on minority communalism. He is branded as pseudo secularist.

The Police in Ranchi went to the extent of parking a jeep on the runway of Ranchi airport to prevent the taking off of a plane carrying NDA legislators to check for the two MLA's that figured in both the lists put up by the NDA and UPA.

The puppet master in all this is the Lady sitting in 10 Janpath, New Delhi.

Thses actions have again raised the question of the relevance of Governors and their powers and functions in India.

Mr. H. D. Deve Gowda has termed these events as a mockery of Indian democracy.

An NDA delecgation led by former Prime Minister A. B. Vajpayee and leader of the opposition Sri L. K. Advani met the President A. P. J Abdul Kalam in the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi and sought his intervention in this episode.

Opposition NDA members stalled the proceedings of both houses opf Parliament today on this isuue.

Meanwhile BJP led NDA has called for a 12 Hrs. Jharkand Bandh today. Sops and business establishments in the Capital Ranchi remained closed. NDA supporters clashed with Police and UPA activists in several parts of Jharkand including capital Ranchi.

The events in Bihar seem to be heading the same way as Jharkand. The RJD supremo Mr. Laloo Prosad Yadav with the tacit help of the Congress president Sonia Gandhi is trying to split the Paswan's LJP along minority communal line.

The communists have taken their usual stance athat the end justifies the means.
