BERLIN - Germany may need to build its own nuclear weapons to counter the threat of nuclear bombs falling into the hands of a terrorist state, a former German defence minister said Thursday.
"We need a serious discussion over how we can react to a nuclear threat by a terrorist state in an appropriate manner - and in extreme cases with our own nuclear weapons," said Rupert Scholz who served as defence minister from 1988 to 1989.
Germany does not have nuclear weapons and Scholz admitted in a Bild newspaper interview that his remarks were breaking what is widely seen as a national taboo.
Scholz - who is a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democratic Union (CDU) - said Berlin should first try to get binding guarantees from the NATO alliance that it would protect Germany in case nuclear threats were directed at the country.

It was an afternoon filled with compassion and support as about 70 animal lovers gathered at the SPCA compound to protest current animal protection law recently.
NEW DELHI - In the halls of Sacramento, a special commission is rewriting Indian history: debating whether Aryan invaders conquered the subcontinent, whether Brahman priests had more rights than untouchables, and even whether ancient Indians ate beef.
That this seemingly arcane Indian debate has spilled over into California's board of education is a sign of the growing political muscle of Indian immigrants and the rising American interest in Asia.
Military Empire
“War and imperialism are Siamese twins joined at the hip. Each thrives off the other. They cannot be separated. Imperialism is the single-greatest cause of war, and war is the midwife of new imperialist acquisitions.” Chalmers Johnson
While other nations realize it full well, Americans do not want to accept that the United States dominates the world through military power. Due to the extreme secrecy of the present administration, the American people are completely ignorant of the fact that the United States “garrisons the globe.” There is a huge network of military bases in more than 150 countries. It is called the new empire. It is the American Empire. Our government employs more than half a million soldiers, spies, technicians, teachers, dependents and civilians as well as civilian contractors all over the world. In addition to officially listed bases, the US has numerous secret bases not to be found on any government listing. Some of these bases are engaged in listening to people all over the world, including American citizens – keeping track of what they are saying, faxing and emailing....................Read more.
"I was not involved in the September 11 attacks in the United States nor did I have knowledge of the attacks. There exists a government within a government within the United States. The United States should try to trace the perpetrators of these attacks within itself."

[PU Editorial Note: 23rd January is celebrated by all the patriotic Indians as the Birth Anniversary of their beloved leader Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Shrii P. R. Sarkar had mentioned the name of Subhas Chandra Bose in many of his discourses with great reverence. He adorned the great leader of India by using attributions like:
…… apostle of the juvenile heart of modern Bengal, thunder like jewel of manliness, the blazing comet of politics, and the flaming meteor Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
On the 109th Birth Anniversay of the great thinker Subhas Chandra Bose, a person with a freedom loving soul, Proutist Universal is publishing the article “The Man and the Ideology” in which the Author Shrii P. It was in that year, when the global crises, which had been simmering for decades had come to a dramatic point: People were crawling in the streets, grasping for air, thirsting for water, crying in a selfish world for little affection.
Editorial Note: In spite of impressions and mass media propaganda to the contrary, American middle class families in fact are not progressing economically, suggesting capitalist economics is failing if not exploiting most Americans, not really enriching their lives. American males on average earn less than they did a generation ago, and even with wives and mothers bringing in a second paycheck families are not secure. Those with two incomes have $1500 less in discretionary spending per year than one-income families from 30 years ago. Nor are American families spending more on luxuries. Elizabeth Warren explains.

Iran will defend itself if it is attacked by the United States or Israel.
Defending one's country against unprovoked aggression is sanctioned under international law and is a requirement of true leadership. We would expect no different if either the United States or Israel was attacked.
The Sharon and Bush administrations' have done an admirable job of poisoning public opinion against Iran; interpreting President Ahmadinejad's comments as a potential danger to Israel's welfare. But such statements, however offensive, are commonplace in the Middle East and cannot be construed as a credible threat.
"In capitalism the psychology of the accquisition of material wealth, be it land, money, metal or other property, strongly predominates. Such crude psychic urges and psychic pabula remain unchecked and unbridled in capitalism and turn into a hungry profit-motive in the market system."
~ Shrii P. R. Sarkar
Before any storm there is always calmness. So called confidence building measures with Pakistan and ceasefire along the Line of Control for almost last two years in Jammu & Kashmir may not be a real situation with India and Pakistan. It appears that the situation could be having a “Hallow Effects”.
At the very outset let me state that many theories have been propounded on this earth. Some of them survived for some time and then gradually passed out of existence; others emerged like meteors, exhibiting their dazzling radiance for a very short time, and then vanished into darkness. The mere existence of a theory is not the essential point; what is important is whether the theory promoted the welfare of all, the spiritual well-being of all - otherwise its advent on this earth was quite useless. Such useless theories are not even worth mentioning.
Any theory will contain the seed of well-being if its firm foundation is sama-sama'ja tattva. It may survive for a very long period - even for eternity - if it cherishes the ideal of forever promoting the welfare of all. This is the essential point.
"Both intellectual and psycho-economic exploitation are great dangers to the human race today. To counteract this threat, powerful popular sentiments will have to be generated immediately for the liberation of intellect." - Shrii P. R. Sarkar
"The Partition Holocaust": the term is frequently used in Hindu pamphlets concerning Islam and the birth of its modern political embodiment in the Subcontinent, the state of Pakistan. Is such language warranted, or is it a ridicule-inviting exaggeration?
