On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar, founder of the new economic model called PROUT, we would like to dedicate this day to the victims of economic, political and environmental terrorism everywhere, and simultaneously make the commitment to work ceaselessly for the economic, political and cultural liberation of all peoples. A new dawn is rising. It is time to start political parties and socio-economic movements in every nation, to fight corporate hegemonies and usher in a new golden era for humanity.
Shrii Sarkar's contributions to humanity were beyond measure. It will take decades or even centuries for the world to recognize those contributions - in the fields of economics, political science, philology, spirituality, linguistics, music and agriculture. His every contribution was for the sole purpose of alleviating the sufferings of humanity and to elevate our lives. During his lifetime, Shrii Sarkar fought tirelessly against economic, political, social and religious corruption and immorality, and spread the message of economic democracy among the common people. He worked tirelessly 20 hours a day for the suffering, half-naked, downtrodden human beings. He challenged religious dogmas that stifled the human spirit and people's innate longing for intellectual and spiritual liberation. We cannot say that Sarkar's one contribution was more important than another. On this site, we are highlighting his economic contribution, via his model of a decentralized, localized economic structure which, if implemented, will go a long way towards ending the economic sufferings of the common people. The prime vehicle for establishing economic democracy is cooperatives. We need to start cooperatives. When we establish water and agricultural cooperatives, then we will no longer be at the mercy of cold, cruel corporations that wreak devastation around the globe. Let us plunge into this work together to establish economic democracy, while expressing our unbounded gratitude to Shrii Sarkar for serving as a beacon light to humanity!

"In economic life there is extreme inequality and exploitation. Although colonialism no longer exists openly in the political and economic sphere, still it persists indirectly, and this should not be tolerated... In this respect you should remember that in economic life, we will have to guarantee the minimum requirements of life to one and all... There cannot be any sort of adjustment as far as this point is concerned. The minimum purchasing requirement must be guaranteed to all. Today these fundamental essentialities are not being guaranteed. Rather, people are being guided by deceptive economic ideas like outdated Marxism, which has proven ineffective in practical life and has not been successfully implemented in any corner of the world. Why do people still believe in such a theory, which has never been proved successful? The time has come for people to make a proper assessment of whether they are being misguided or not." |

"Human beings have still not been able to form a human society, and have still not learned to move with the spirit of a pilgrim. Although many small groups, motivated by self-interest, work together in particular situations, not even a small fraction of their work is done with a broader social motive. By strict definition, shall we have to declare that each small family unit is a society in itself? If going ahead in mutual adjustment only out of narrow self-interest or momentary self-seeking is called society, then in such a society, no provision can be made for the disabled, the diseased or the helpless, because in most cases nobody can benefit from them in any way... in that case there always remains the possibility of some people getting isolated from the collective. All human beings must attach themselves to others by the common bond of love and march forward hand in hand; then only will I proclaim it a society." |
