Who does not want to visit Heaven on Earth - Srinagar, who does not want to enjoy the serene Mountain Valley, the largest valley at that height in the World. Bengalis, the lover of Traveling Places are found not only in every corner of our Country but also all over the World. There was a time when we would find a Sikh gentleman in any corner of the World, the same is applicable to a Bengali Today. May be in another two decades time, you will find a Bengali on the Moon!
On 11th July 2006, a Tourist Group of Bengalis in Family group were traveling in Mini Bus and cars in Srinagar, were enjoying a lovely sunshine in the Valley next to Dal Lake. There was sing-song inside the Bus, some housewives were entertaining their husbands and family singing Rabindra Sangeet.
Suddenly five grenades were lobbed inside the Bus and the Car by the Terrorist. The grenade bursts, one could see the limbs of ladies and children flying all over. There was blood, scream, shouts and cry for help. These gruesome act of terrorism was by the members of Lashkar-e-Toiba, a Pakistan based Terrorists organization. Most of the dead and wounded were ladies and children.
News reached Delhi. Crisis Management Group was in the process of carrying out the inquests. It was evening time. The Business Capital of India, Mumbai after a weeks torrential rain was back in busy Business and activities. The Senior Executives, The Business Men and the Creative Personnel, were returning home in packed local trains. It was about 6:26 in the evening, almost simultaneously there were seven blasts, all in First Class Compartment. Generally higher middle class professionals travels in First Class Compartments. The intensity of the Blasts were so high that the compartments got mingled like melted iron scrap. Roof of one station also blew up. More than 200 people were dead and 800 people were wounded. Both these incidents of Terrorism happened on 11th of July 2006. In the history of Terrorism 9/11, 7/7 and 7/11 will be written in Red Letter and should be called “Black Day”.
Who are behind this kind of Terrorist act? The grenade which were lobbed in Srinagar were made in a Neighbouring Country which is known to be harbouring, abetting, funding, training, arming and sending them in our Country for carrying out Terrorist Activities. The Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit has claimed this Attack in Srinagar.
Now let us analyze Mumbai Blasts.
It is a known fact that, intensity of such blasts can only be made by RDX or high power Explosive Device which can only be found with the Terrorist Group, like Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jai-c-Mohammed or Al–Qaida. Seven blasts almost simultaneously give an indication that there were minimum 15 – 20 people involved to plant these explosives. Terrorist always work in pair. Timer used also was of sophisticated nature. Unprofessional Group to carry out such activities is unimaginable. Let us first analyse why the Terrorists attack was made in Srinagar.
- a) To divert attention of the Indian Security Force and the Indian Nation from the so called POK Election.
b) To show the presence and strength of the Terrorist and to make a dent to Tourism Economy of Kashmir. A large section of tourists in Kashmir is from Bengal.
c) To put mental pressure on our Honorable Defence Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, playing with Bengali sentiment factor.
d) To create confusion over confidence building measure between the two countries and to pressurize India Government to resolve Jammu and Kashmir issue as fast as possible.
e) To prevent growth of economy of Jammu & Kashmir and create unemployment and frustration amongst the local Kashmir Youths.
Now let us analyse the causes of blast in Mumbai:-
- a) Few days back there was some violence in few places in Maharashtra by Shiv Sainiks. This was a reaction by Shiv Sainik organization as there was defacing of the Statue of Late Mrs. Bal Thakre.
You will re-collect in 1993, Blasts was at the aftermath of demolition of Babri Masjid structure. In this case it appears that it was to show the strength of the Terrorist outfit in Mumbai over Shiv Senas.
b) Cease fire with Pakistan for last two years, withdrawal of the Army from various places and handing over the security aspects of Srinagar Tour Area to the CRPF gave opportunity to the Terrorist outfit to infiltrate in small groups and establish hide outs and Arms Ammunition dumps in some of the remote areas in Srinagar Valley.
There has been concrete evidence, that in our Neighboring country Bangladesh and Nepal these Terrorist outfits have also been able to establish Bases. The modern tele-communication facilities and satellite communication enables to control and give orders and directions from different places for e.g. from Karachi, the entire western region of our Country, from POK the entire Northern region of our Country, from Bangladesh entire North eastern region of our Country, from Nepal the central portion of our Country, can be controlled.
We have talked a lot regarding Confidence Building measure and acted a little to resolve problem with Pakistan. But whatever measures we would like to adopt to normalize relation, Pakistan talk about Kashmir. It is a well known fact that in spite of President General Musharaf giving assurance to US and India that there is no support for any Terrorist Action from Pakistan, Pakistan is still the base of all fundamental Islamic terrorism spreading all over the World.
What are the Ways to stop these Terrorist activities in our Country:-
- a) Revamp and relay the entire intelligence system within the Centre and State, coordinate with Intelligence net work world over for Anti – Terrorist Activities.
b) Hit and destroy all bases and command areas of Terrorist activities.
c) Cut off all the Ingress routes for arms ammunition explosives.
d) Find out the organization and source which are funding these organizations - destroy them.
e) Carry out extensive search and destroy operations.
f) The mind set of Jihad based of Religious fundamentalism should be changed.
I am pained and constrained to write here that there was jubilation, enthusiasm, and talk shows on world Cup Football tournament, Zidan-Ronaldo- and Brazil; even in some of the temple, photograph of these players were displayed and ‘Puja’ and ‘Aarati’ was held! And when a catastrophic destruction and killing of innocent civilians including women and children is carried out in Pre planned and cold blooded, no body has raised a voice. Alas, this is the mind set of our young stars. Where is the statement of intellectuals? Where was the protest from so called human rights organizations?
Only way to resolve Problems with the Neighbouring countries is to make your Country Strong and Powerful. There is a saying “Offence is the Best Form of Defence”. If you want to kill a Terrorist, you have to be as terrorist yourself. Let us not forget Word of President General Musharaf, “Kashmir or No Kashmir, we will ensure that India bleeds for next hundred years”.
