A Prout Convention was organised at 'Mahanayak Uttam Mancha', Kolkata on the 9th of September, 2007, by Proutist Universal (PU), Kolkata. Various eminent speakers spoke on different aspects of the socio-economic philosophy of Progressive Utilisation Theory (Prout), propounded by the great philosopher Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar. Three sessions were held during the convention apart from the inaugural session. The first session was on the 'Agricultural and Rural Development Policies of Prout'. The second session was on the 'Industrial and Economic Policies of Prout', and the final session was on 'Prout and Sadvipra Samaj'. During the lunch and breaks informative posters displaying the policy stances of Prout were displayed.

More than 500 people attended the Convention, which was convened by Ac. Tanmayananda Avt. on behalf of Proutist Universal.

With the goal to serve in the time of need, Amra Bengali has been active in the past and will continue to be so in the future. While communists oppress, capitalists exploit, and Hindis impose their cheap pseudo-culture on the great people of Bengal, there is a crying need today for new leadership, a new movement and a new socio-economic, political ideology to free all Bengali speaking people from their present state of oppression and exploitation and restore this rich and ancient culture to its former heights of glory. - Dinabandhu Maity

05/25/07 - 65% population of Jharkhand is Bengali speaking. Yet Bengali is not even taught in the schools. No Bengali textbook is available. The state of Jharkhand gives no recognition to the Bengali language. For this reason, Amra Bangali took out a rally on 28 th March 2007, at Ranchi and submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Jharkhand with the following demands:

• Bengali should be the medium of all state correspondence - official as well as unofficial.



• Bengali speaking teachers must be posted to teach Bengali in schools and colleges.



• Bengali should become the medium of education.



• Textbooks should be made immediately available in Bengali language.



• Local people (Nagpuria speaking people) - including Bengali speaking - all sons of the soil should be given 100% employment in Government and non-Government jobs.



• All sign boards, all announcements and circulars should be in Bengali language.



• Bengali regiments should be created in the Armed forces of India.

There are certain days which remain ever memorable and sacred to certain communities. This applies to the 21st February. On this very day the people of East Bengal attained martyrdom by fomenting a revolution to save Bengali language as the official language of their country.

On 2nd - Universal Proutist Student Federation (UPSF) district conference. Fifty students attended. The conference was conducted by Central Organizing Secretary Ac. Tanmayananda Avt. Students distributed leaflets to colleges about the reservation policy (admission in educational institutions) of Prout. They also submitted memorandum to the District Magistrates about the defective reservation policy of the government.

India achieved its independence in the year 1947. Bengal was divided into two parts. Did the aspirations of Bengal find their fulfillment? Did the politically-shattered, economically-devastated Bengal find justice from the new rulers of Delhi? Could the Bengal that had been the colony of the British raise its head with sovereign dignity? Before analysing post-independence Bengal, however, it is essential to elaborate on her socio-cultural background. How could the people of such an advanced civilisation have tolerated ruthless exploitation and oppression for such a long period of time? In any society, people's aspirations and hopes, dynamism and fighting spirit, and their social, economic and political structures all develop on the foundation of that society's cultural heritage. So at the outset let us look at the cultural evolution of Bengal.

In 1613, when a British company by the name of the East India company was granted permission by the Mughal emperor Jehangir to start their trading activities, nobody imagined that the British would one day rule India. Starting from the West coast they gradually established their centre on the East coast and in Bengal. Bengal was then under Mughal rule. In 1717, Murshid Kuli Khan was appointed as the Subadar (administrator) of Bengal. At this time, Bengal was for all intents and purposes independent, though nominally it was under Mughal rule. In 1756, after the death of Nawab Alivardy, Sirajuddaula, who succeeded him, was the last independent ruler of Bengal. Lord Clive was then the governor of the East India Company in Bengal. Lord Clive hatched a conspiracy with the commander in Chief of Nawab's army, Mirjafar, and defeated Sirajuddaula in the battle of Palashii in 1757. After this victory, the British aggressively expanded their domination of India.

America's first African American billionaire, Robert Johnson, has recently purchased a small Florida bank that he plans to move to Washington, D.C., one of the United States' strongest banking markets, in order to serve the African American community. Johnson has said he thinks the bank, to be renamed Urban Trust, could become "the preeminent African-American owned bank in the country." ¹ How much that will benefit working and middle class blacks or mainly himself and other bank stockholders is unclear.

It is not proper that one person will snatch away the morsels of food from the mouths of others. So there has been a need to introduce a system where all human beings would distribute the entire wealth among the collective body in a collective way. Unfortunately, no great person ever did this in the past, nor did even Ta'raka Brahma [the advent of the Supreme Liberator] do it. It was not done, therefore the problems and difficulties in collective life have continued. Because of these shortcomings, human life is full of pain and misery.

Prout supports intervention in sovereign nation states by a duly created world body. It rejects intervention by particular nation-states, even broad based coalitions. This is largely as the self-interests of nation-states (geo-political control, resource and ideology control) go against the self-interests of the planet.

Ideologically, Prout rejects the UN as such a world body, as the UN is foundations are based on inequitable world order. Moreover, eligibility into the UN is based on acquiring national status, thus leaving out social movements, cooperatives, and individuals.

Ideologically Prout rejects identity politics particularly religious politics, including the hindu variety ( eg, BJP genocide in Gujrat), of the Islamic variety (terrorism globally and in Kashmir) of the Christian Vatican (the feudal politics of the Vatican) and of the Jewish variety (Zionism).
