Bin Laden speaks, but not the truth

|

Opinion and Editorial - November 05, 2004; By Gwynne Dyer, London

Osama bin Laden is a master of the art of public relations, and his videotaped message on Friday, Oct. 29, was a little masterpiece of spin and misdirection. All that nonsense about how he decided to attack the "towers" of New York when he saw the "towers" of Beirut under attack by the Israelis and the U.S. Sixth Fleet in 1982, for example.

Umm Ahmed - Terrorist From Fallujah

|

PROUT Editor's note: People like to throw around the word 'terrorist very loosely. Who are the real terrorists? Umm Ahmed? Abu Ahmed? Ahmed? Baby Majid? Or George Bush? Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar has talked about how Bengalis suffering under British oppression "plunged bravely into terrorism under the inspiration of the itinerant troubadour, Mukunda Das." So if Ahmed and his father also get inspiration to plunge into terrorism (the words of Prabhat Sarkar) to oust the oppressors from their country, do we support it or not? The people of Fallujah are suffering far more than did Bengalis did under the British!

Baghdad Burning

The sky has been overcast these last few days. It’s a smoggy, grayish combination of dust, smoke and humidity. I guess it has matched the general mood in many ways- somewhat dark and heavy.

New York, November 1: Osama bin Laden, who has resurfaced on the eve of the US Presidential polls does not seem like a hunted terrorist in the just released tape and the backdrop of the video suggests as if he is living comfortably in an urban setting in Pakistan.
